Westmorland Dales Festival 2025

The Westmorland Dales Festival 2025 takes place over the weekend of 26th and 27th July. The festival celebrates the landscape, heritage and people of the wonderful Westmorland Dales with a packed programme of events, activities and entertainment for all the family.

There are three free guided walks.

Saturday 26th July 2025

Walk 1 –  Wild Boar Fell Walk

Route to Shoregill, Thrang Bridge, Hazelgill, High Dophinsty and Wild Boar summit. Return to High Dophinsty, Little Fell, Moor Pot (hole), Tommy Road and Pendragon Castle. About 9 miles with 1,800 feet of ascent.

Poor weather route – Lammerside Castle, Wharton Hall, Bullgill, Tommy Road and Pendragon Castle.  About 6 miles lower level.

Meet 09:30 Pendragon Castle, Mallerstang. Layby parking NY 783 027 with spaces for about 5 vehicles. Please book walk waw@uppereden.org.uk

Walk 2  –  Lynchets historical landscape walk

To coincide with the launch of our new walk booklet about these medieval field features. Circular route to Nateby and Wharton Hall returning via Jubilee Park, Millennium Bridge and Stenkrith Park looking at our historical landscape. About 4 miles easy.

Sunday 27th July 2025

Walks 3 and 4 – Kirkby Stephen Commercial and Industrial Heritage

Before the railways arrived bringing the industrial revolution to Kirkby Stephen it was mainly self- sufficient and together with local towns the populace produced their everyday needs.  Come and explore this industrial past, a little walking around the town with some standing.

Meet 11:00 and 14:30 at the Kirkby Stephen Walkers are Welcome and Northern Viaduct Trust stall on the Church Green. Limited numbers, booking essential waw@uppereden.org.uk
